Best April Fools Pranks

Bankless announced that they purchased the naming rights for the Wells Fargo Center, renaming it ‘Bankless Center.’

The disclosed purchase price came in at a whopping “69,000 Ethereum tokens and an undisclosed amount of Bored Ape Yacht NFTs, Turtle NFTs, and ‘David’s CryptoPunk’ via SudoSwap.” 😂
*This of course did not happen

The tweet above (which was retweeted by the founder of Solana) announced that Solana would be shutting down their consensus layer in favor of “using Ethereum as a global settlement layer.”

Again, not true, but hilarious that the founder of Solana joined in on the fun.

Web2 Payment to Web3 Payment Integrations

OpenSea, the largest NFT marketplace, has introduced a new payment method for it’s users, allowing them to use Visa, Mastercard and American Express debit cards. This will undoubtedly onboard even more users to web3, simplifying the process for non web3 users to participate in buying NFTs.

Crypto Regulation

The UK government has laid out plans to make the UK a global cryptoasset technology hub.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer stated “We want to see the businesses of tomorrow – and the jobs they create – here in the UK, and by regulating effectively we can give them the confidence they need to think and invest long-term.”

The European Parliament has passed a bill that requires crypto firms to KYC. KYC stands for ‘Know Your Client.’ They will also be required to report all crypto transactions worth more than 1,000 EUR to anti-money laundering authorities.

Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase, made a comment on this subject, stating “Imagine if the EU required your bank to report you to the authorities every time you paid your rent merely because the transaction was over 1,000 Euros.”

DAO of the Month

Our DAO of the Month is Maker DAO.

Maker DAO is the creator of the Dai stablecoin, and facilitates collateral-backed loans without an intermediary. It is one of the longest standing DAOs to date.

The term DAO is a bit of a buzz word in the space right now, but Maker DAO is a true decentralized organization. They were in the news earlier this week, as a member of the DAO introduced a proposal to provide the funding Elon Musk needed to build a series of new warehouses for Tesla, using Dai.
